Advent of Solid State Drives

Every single component in the modern PC has had radical improve-ment in performance. Processors in a single year had breath-taking improvement, right now running eight cores and topping 4.7GHz, graphics cards are capable of playing heavily post-process game engines at break-neck speeds and crazy-high resolutions and memory is lightning fast at massive capacities. In fact, the only part that has not see such performance increase is the humble storage devices.
When it comes to performance, the traditional rotational hard disk has it limit. Hard disk maximum data transfer speed could not help. Even the fastest hard disk  drive spinning at 10,000rpm still does not offer much of an improvement over the standard 7,200rpm drives. The path of progress then has hit some serious roadwork, today we now witness the birth of solid-state drives.

My first encounter with SSDs on an article capture my mind, it feels though nothing has ever been said because it was still a lab experiment. Expert believe SSDs is a must-have piece of technology to complement the speed of processor and memory in a PC. Although SSDs is still very expensive as compare to the traditional hard drives. The biggest available size is 512GB.
