What future does it hold for OEM and OS Maker

Apple has always been the only company that manufactured it own hardware and software simultaneously, although many PC Maker have come and gone playing their own role in the computing world. Microsoft recently revealed it surface tablet PC in other Tablet PC format. This has created a lot of heat in the computing world. I believe software giant has finally decided to step on everyone’s toes.
Apparently Microsoft is known to be a soft player in the OEM world, although Microsoft have previously introduced few line of brand like Games console, Mice, Keyboard, and expansion cards.

The new Tablet will definitely knock some OEM out of their business. This is a serious issue in an atmosphere where OEM have put a lot of money I suppose to introduce their new line of product. I believe Microsoft intention could be just to be part of the Tablet producing community or an attempt to not make Apple rule the new Age of technology anymore. Oh! What can I say?

But What if the release becomes a boom for Microsoft and decided to go into full time OEM? What future does it hold for other OEM? Would they stop making PC running on Microsoft OS or would they find alternative so as to make Microsoft stay on it own? Will Microsoft forge out a new market opportunity to surpass the cheap maker.

Apple and Google are synonymous to both hardware and OS. However, there is a great deal more to the smartphone market that Android and iOS. I know there is more  breakthrough event line up to be unveil in the nearest future.
